I was a junior delegate to the 1976 Iowa Republican State Convention. I was a strong supporter of Gov. Reagan in his contest with Pres. Ford. I supported Reagan partly because he was pro-life while Ford and most of his supporters were pro-abortion. My sister and I brought homemade posters to the Reagan rally. The candidate gave a great speech and Julie got her poster autographed by Ronnie and Nancy. One of my political mentors, Dr. Harry Rasdal of Spencer, was elected as a Reagan delegate to the national convention in Kansas City. It was all very exciting!
